Eight services, one company, since 1986. Operations and verification hub: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The services

Everything a rug needs.

A rug gets photographed, sold, delivered, walked on for thirty years, washed a dozen times, repaired twice, valued for insurance, stored through a move, and eventually sold again. Every one of those is a service. We run all of them.

Start with who you are

Pick one and we will show only the services that apply to you. Or read all eight.

Clean and repair

Keep what you already own.

Value and sell

Find out what it is worth, then move it.

Store and stage

Somewhere to put it, or something to borrow.

Photograph

Rugs photograph badly. That is a solvable problem.

Photography

Loom and Light

Rug photography that actually sells rugs, shot on site in your own showroom. Our contracted photographers travel to dealers city by city, working to a standardised capture protocol.

Why on site

A rug that has to be shipped to a studio is a rug that gets handled twice, insured twice and unavailable to your walk in customers for a fortnight. Shooting on your floor removes all three problems.

The whole life of a rug

One rug. Forty years. Eight moments where somebody has to know what they are doing.

Year one

It arrives, and it gets photographed

A rug comes off a loom in Qum or Lahore and reaches a showroom floor. If it is photographed badly it sits there. Loom and Light exists because of this single fact.

Year one

Somebody has to prove what it is

Machine made sold as hand knotted, and synthetic sold as silk, are common enough that careful buyers avoid the category. Fiber testing and knot counting is what brings them back.

Year two

It sells, or it does not

If it sells locally, good. If it sits for three years it is dead capital, and it needs a national buyer pool. That is Rug Vault, or Warp and Weft if you would rather we handled the whole sale.

Years three to thirty

It gets walked on

Then washed, roughly every three to five years. Wool tolerates it. Silk does not tolerate the same treatment, and the difference is where most damage happens.

Somewhere in there

Something goes wrong

A dog, a flood, a moth, a corner that lifted and frayed. Fringe and selvedge work is routine. Reweaving is not, and it is worth doing on the right piece.

A move, or a claim

It needs a number on paper

Insurance schedules, probate, divorce, donation, a damage claim. An appraisal states value as of the date of inspection, which is a different document from a certificate of construction.

Between houses

It needs somewhere to live

Rolled on a tube in climate control, not folded in a storage unit in July. Folding a dry antique foundation is how you turn a repairable rug into a ruined one.

Year forty

It sells again

And the next owner asks all the same questions. Which is why we kept the records.

If you are not sure

Most people do not know which service they need. That is our job.

Describe the situation in plain language, including what the rug looks like and what went wrong. One message reaches all eight services and we will tell you which one applies, including when the answer is that you do not need us.
